Fortimedix Names New CEO, Pursues Development of US Market

Contract manufacturer of endovascular stents Fortimedix has announced that COO Wout Bijker has been named CEO, effective immediately. Bijker joined Fortimedix in August 2009. He will now focus on further maturing the company’s manufacturing system, broadening its technology base and establishing a culture of continuous process improvement, thus ensuring sustainable competition, according to the company.
“Fortimedix has the ambition to outgrow the market and outpace the competition,” Bijker told medtechinsider. Former CEO and cofounder of the company, Marc van de Graaf will lead Fortimedix USA and continue to serve the company as its Vice President, Global Business Development. In line with the company’s Vision 2012, van de Graaf will spearhead further expansion of Fortimedix’s core business into the US market as well as facilitating diversification into new businesses, markets and product lines.
“Fortimedix USA will primarily focus on end-user based market research and subsequent business development activities to identify opportunities for novel endoscopic devices,” says van de Graaf. “Fortimedix USA also will be responsible for growing the Fortimedix stent business in the United States and internationally.”
